Drama therapy, narrative and the creative arts for treating anxiety and trauma in neurodiverse children—for educators, therapists and parents.
Saturday May 4th, 2024 – 10am till 4pm
Cairnmillar Institute, Hawthorn East Participants will explore different drama therapy, narrative and creative arts approaches of working with anxiety and trauma in clinical and educational settings.
Approaches will explore externalising methods, use of fantastic reality and story making, as well as using projective methods involving objects, mask and other projective materials.

Leonie Hurry, a Registered Drama Therapist trained at the Los Angeles Institute of Drama Therapy under Professor Pamela Dunne, the creator of Narradrama. She formed the Drama Therapy Institute of Australia in 2009, with Pamela Dunne, the Patron. She has conducted workshops and presented both in Australia, the US and Europe.
Leonie, a sociologist, theatre practitioner, teacher and performer has a vast experience working within schools and hospitals and provides a wealth of experience using Drama intentionally for therapeutic goals. She has completed internships in Romania and the UK, where she also became a Neuro Dramatic Play practitioner and trainer with UK Dr Sue Jennings.
Having worked in private practice for the past ten years, she brings a warm and insightful approach to Drama Therapy for all practitioners, teachers, clinicians and parents working and living with neurodiverse communities.
