The HealthWork International group, which includes AHP Workforce, is focussed on improving global population health through a range of initiatives designed to enhance service delivery and accessibility, including allied health workforce planning, health workforce development and training, support for health practitioner regulation and peak body association management, and geospatial mapping of the health workforce against population need.

Led by CEO and founder Professor Susan Nancarrow, an international health workforce researcher and experienced clinician with more than 30 years’ experience, HealthWork International works with health care organisations, government, and professional associations to improve the quality and effectiveness of service delivery.

The Allied Health Academy

Communities of Practice and Professional Development for Allied Health

The Allied Health Academy is an online community and learning management system designed specifically for AHPs, AHAs, health workers, policymakers, funders, and stakeholders to effect positive change in allied health and health care.

The Academy champions individual advancement and systemic improvement by offering a comprehensive range of high quality online training programs, supplemented by engaging communities of practice. These are tailored to build interdisciplinary skills and support the continuous growth of individuals and the organisations they work for.

The Academy is also a platform for facilitating collaboration on systemic or other issues for allied health, and the development of new and innovative solutions at local, regional and global levels. These are communities of practice on special interest topics, or designed for collaboration between members who represent a particular slice of our larger allied health community.

Membership is free, enabling professionals worldwide to connect, contribute to global health solutions, and advance their careers through continuous learning. Additionally, corporate clients (LHNs, PHNs) can leverage our specialised training packages to develop their teams or secure dedicated spaces within TAHA to facilitate their own training initiatives and professional development goals.

Mapping Population Need to Allied Health Workforce Supply

HealthWork Mapping geospatially maps allied health practitioner supply against the population need for allied health services, to Statistical Area Level 3 granularity.

Need (versus demand) is defined using profession-specific population-demographic-based drivers of need for a profession’s services, weighted and synthesised into our novel algorithmic, the Allied Health Index of Need.

Self-regulating professional peak bodies and workforces seeking professionalisation, certification, and association management can access world-leading expertise through HealthWork Solutions to help them achieve these goals.
