First established in September 2020 as the Allied Health Assistant Network of Australia, A.H.A.N.A. has now incorporated into the Allied Health Assistants’ National Association Ltd A.H.A.N.A.. We support Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) to improve the output, quality and efficiency for Allied Health (AH) professionals and services provided publicly , privately and within the disability, acute care and community fields across Australia.

AHAs enable Allied Health to deliver its maximum scope of practice. This company works to benefit both Assistants and Professionals who provide supervision and delegation across all of the AH spectrum. This encompasses Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Dietetics, Podiatry, Recreational Therapy, Social Work and Exercise Physiology.

AHANA aims to raise the awareness of how AHAs support and resource AHPs to meet the increasing demands on the health system and enhance the quality of life of the Australian population.

AHANA supports, promotes, informs and advocates for Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) in:

  • Peer support
  • Professional development
  • Research
  • Consultation and benchmarking.

A national peak body for Allied Health Assistants enables us to develop such things as:

  • The establishment of regular national AHA Professional development forums and/or events
  • Enhanced research capacity
  • Equity and transferability of the workforce
  • Advocacy for scope of practice and recognition.

AHANA continues to seek representatives and members from all states and territories to assist in its development and to continue to reflect our national collegial collaboration.
